Sun Yat-Sen Classical Chinese Garden
This living museum of culture was the first classical Chinese garden constructed outside China's borders. At the corner of Keefer and Carrall Street in Chinatown, the gardens offer tranquility and peace while showcasing the spectacular artistry of yin and yang through the balance of architecture and nature. Once you enter the doors of the "Garden of Ease" (as the archway declares), you can take a guided tour of the grounds or go at your own pace. A tour is included in the price of general admission and offers insight into the history and traditions of these types of gardens from the Suzhou era. Especially amazing: Everything you see was constructed in the traditional ways by artisans, with no modern power tools. This means no nails or screws!

Keep some "loonies" and "toonies" in your pocket for parking meters and vending machines. (The loon is a Canadian one-dollar piece with the picture of a loon, and the two-dollar piece depicts a polar bear in the center of the bi-metallic coin.)
