Find a Little Venice in London

Want the scoop on a little known fact about London? A canal system winds its way through this amazing city! Two companies offer canal boat tours, in the traditional narrow boats, through Little Venice to London Zoo and all the way to Canden Locks. There is live commentary during the trip to point out attractions and give you the history of the canal.

The trip takes about 50 minutes to Canden Locks (with the roundtrip being just a few dollars more), or only go as far as the Zoo. In the summer, boats leave every hour, and a weekend-only service is offered in the winter (November 1 to March 31).

To take a canal tour, get on the Tube underground train to Warwick Avenue and walk a few hundred yards; you will see the canal and turn right. Prices are about the same on both boats — £4 for adults and £2.00for children.

If you get there early, stop at the Waterside Cafe for a cup of tea or coffee or enjoy a full breakfast starting at 9 a.m. The Cafe has a very inviting atmosphere, and you can read more about the history of the canal on the walls of this floating restaurant.
