Scare Up Some Fun at a Dungeon

One of London's top attractions, the London Dungeon doesn't look like much from the outside. But once inside — wow! — an excellent adventure.

Upon entering, you are invited into the Dungeon by one of the many costumed actors and actresses that you'll interact with during the 90-minute tour. As you set off, your heart may begin beating faster, and you can expect to jump many times during this production tour.

The special effects reproduce the time period very well — you'll feel as if you are back on the streets of Whitechapel in the year 1888 when Jack the Ripper roamed the streets.

Live actors recreate the fear and atmosphere. Take the scariest boat ride ever ("The Boat ride to Hell") in darkness with just a few flickering lights. You'll pass through Traitors Gate after being sentenced to death, and then ... well, you will have to take the tour to find out what happens next!

Enter the Labyrinth of the Lost, a maze of twists and turns, and experience the Great Fire of London, The Great Plague, the Torture Chamber and the Blood and Guts Cafe.

This is great fun, but a word of warning: If you are of nervous disposition or have a young child, this tour is NOT recommended. Children under age 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

The cost is £19.95 for adults, £10 for children age five to 15, and there are discounts for students and seniors.

You may purchase tickets online, there is a good discount and those tickets allow you to go to the Fast Track entry. This could be a real time saver, especially during the summer when lines can stretch down the street.

The attraction is located on Tooley Street literally a few hundred yards down the street from the London Bridge underground station. Check locally for opening and closing times, as they change seasonally.
